Hi, I’m Megan. I run businesses for a living.

I’m a small business owner first. I built a retail store, started a membership for other owners, run a short-term rental group, and help other owners do the same — based out of the Lower Mainland and the Okanagan in beautiful British Columbia.

Where I started

In 2017 I opened The Local Space in Langley, BC — a multi-brand retail store carrying more than 250 Canadian-owned brands at a time, and over 1,000 over the years. Chilliwack followed in 2020, and we had a South Surrey store for a while too. Today Chilliwack is the one still open. I ran it for almost ten years and grew it to over $11 million in sales. The buying, the merchandising, the staff, the marketing: all of it was mine, and so was the money on the line.

That’s the part I bring to everything else. When I tell you what to do next, it’s because I’ve had to make the same call in my own business, not because I read about it.

Along the way I started The Local Biz Club, a membership for small businesses that want real marketing help without the guru nonsense, and Casa Nakazawa, my short-term rental hospitality group.

What I do now

  • Consulting — a fractional CMO, operations, AI and automation — advice built from your own numbers.
  • Marketing — social, email flows and audits, done for you.
  • Web design — Shopify, WordPress, Squarespace, Wix or custom, built properly the first time.
  • Custom-built tools — software made with Claude Code that ties together the programs you already use.
  • Speaking + education — workshops, keynotes and talks for business groups and teams.
  • UGC + brand partnerships — content that looks like a person made it, because one did.
  • The Local Biz Club — my membership for small businesses — templates, resources and real marketing help.
  • Casa Nakazawa — my short-term rental hospitality group.
  • The Backroom App — a Shopify app I built for the way small retail teams actually work.

How I work

Owner first, coach second. I didn’t learn this from a certification — I’m an owner too, and I’m rooting for independent small businesses. I’ve set prices, made payroll and made the big calls with my margins and cash flow in mind — and lived with the results. You’ll get what I’ve actually tried, what worked, and what didn’t.

Plain talk, real numbers. No jargon and no funnels. We look at what’s actually happening in your business and decide from there.

Straight answers. If something isn’t a fit — or you don’t need me — I’ll tell you, and point you somewhere better.

Let’s make your business easier to run — and more fun to own.

Pick a service, or book one hour with me. You’ll leave with a plan and a straight answer — even if the answer is that you don’t need me.
